My name is Marina Moraca and I am a resident of beautiful Nova Scotia, more precisely Halifax. I received my Bachelor in Science from University of New Brunswick, and I worked almost a full decade in a research setting, the last 5 years having a multi-faceted role focused on employee and organizational training, preclinical and clinical quality assurance and quality management, standardizing clinical biopsy collection and processing protocols, and training hospital staff on the protocols on a global scale, both in person and as a response to Covid-19 virtually.

 

I am currently a part of the wonderful primary health care and chronic disease management and prevention team at Nova Scotia Health, one of the two provincial health authorities administering and delivering our province's health care services. Our mission is to ensure that all Nova Scotians have timely and comprehensive access to primary health care and access to chronic disease management and prevention care and resources.

I have training in project management and benefits realization management and I am a certified practitioner of both project management and benefits realization management. This unique combination of training and associated skills enable me to apply a strategical lens to my team's projects and programs and help ensure that our work is completed on time and within scope and that we have a strong understanding of the outcomes and benefits of our work, which in most cases ultimately benefit the health care provider and the patient.

 

I am a big believer in personal and professional self development and I enjoy learning and challenging myself. My mission is to formally educate myself on our federal and provincial healthcare and to gain additional healthcare knowledge and insight by interacting with my fellow classmates. I believe that this will enable me to continue to contribute meaningfully to my team, my organization, and to the healthcare sector as a whole.
